Local hero Phil Masinga was made captain for the day against his old club. United brought on Nigel Worthington for Tony Dorigo at Left Back, Mark Tinkler for David White at Right Half and Noel Whelan for Phil Masinga at Outside Right. Ken Niemach won the match for the Sundowns when he score in the final minute. In the other Semi-Final Kaiser Chiefs defeated Benfica and advanced to the Final leaving Leeds and Benfica to fight for the wooden spoon.
